SOL Testing

Please remember SOL Testing for grades 3-5 begins the week of May 13. You should have received or will receive a calendar with the dates of all tests by grade level. Please make sure your child rests well the night before a test and eats a good breakfast the morning of a test.

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week May 3 through May 7 is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Please take time to let a Teacher/Staff member know that you appreciate the job that they do. Our faculty and staff members are a dedicated group of professionals that work tirelessly to provide our students with the best education possible.

Fun Fair

Please make plans to attend the Annual PTO Fun Fair on March 19. The event is a great time for students, family, and faculty to get together and enjoy a night of family fun. We hope to see you there!

SOL Testing

Our 5th grade students will be taking the Writing SOL Tests this month. The multiple choice section will be given on March 16 with the writing prompt to follow on March 17. Please be sure your child gets plenty of sleep, eats a good breakfast, and has a positive morning before the tests. We know they will all try their hardest and do their very best.

Report Cards

Report cards are scheduled to go home on Tuesday, February 2nd. Please review the report card carefully and contact the teacher with any questions you may have.

Possible Weather

Some weather reports are calling for some minor snow Thursday night 1/7/10. In the event we do have snow you can check the Culpeper County School web site for closing information. Please ask your child to bring home a book to read just in case there are any school closings.

H1 N1 Second Round

Health department officials will be here at EHES on Monday, January 11 to administer the second dose of the H1 N1 vaccination. Only those students under 10 years of age will receive the second vaccine.

H1N1 Clinic

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the EHES faculty and staff, parent volunteers, PTO volunteers, and the health department staff for making the H1N1 clinic on 12/1 a huge success. The clinic was well organized and went extremely well.

Holiday Breaks and Reading

We are coming up on the time of year when our students will be off from school on extended breaks enjoying time with family and friends. What a great time to spend some time reading with your child! One of the most important things you can do for your child is to read with them each day. We appreciate all that you do and the support that you show for EHES!

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome everyone back to EHES. Teachers have returned to begin staff development and planning for the 2009-2010 school year. I am branching out with the new Principal's Blog this year with the assistance of our Instructional Technology Resource Teacher, Mr. Tim Gardner. Below you will find some important upcoming dates.
